Review of The Core (2003) by Sergio A — 31 Mar 2013
It's a little goofy at times yes but The Core manages to sidestep most of the usual disaster movie issues by doing the following: Having a big lead (Aaron Eckhart) and letting him stretch his legs and actually.
..well, act! Most importantly, shit happens! Within the first few minutes people die, and then after about 15 more mintues of talking, more stuff happens! The dialogue though laughably at times is just good at others.
It starts out strong but gets silly near the second act which also manages to get boring too. This may not be an amazing movie, not helped by not so special effects, but it's definitely not as bad as many other disaster movies.
