Review of The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) by Barbara O — 25 Mar 2008
I enjoyed its highly charged symbolism (although it comes about at the expense of subtlety at times), but unfortunately I also found it un-be-liev-ably boring - which, in turn, makes me quite uncomfortable, because this is a "love it or hate it"-film.
but I just can't help it: I appreciate it for its depth, but wouldn't want to watch it again for its tediousness.
