Review of The Conversation (1974) by Chris C — 05 Aug 2010
Small and intimate, Francis Ford Coppola's "The Conversation" is a more than decent contender for being known as his finest achievement in film. Gene Hackman gives an incredibly subdued performance as a man who's job it is to peep into the lives of others.
What tolls does this take on one's own person? Can one truly trust when one is not trustworthy? What secret guilt hides behind the locked doors of our lives? These are some of the questions which are explored in the marvelous work of cinema from one of it's greatest auteurs.
