(1974) The Conversation.
THRILLER/ MYSTERY.
When Gene Hackman was asked what his favorite film to be in, everybody thought he'd say "The French Connection" since it was that film that garnered his first Oscar win, but what he said instead was "The Conversation" directed by Francis Ford Coppola. As soon as I heard or read this, I was like "why the hell why?" after liking Hackamn in "The French Connection". I decided to check this one out for curiosity sake, and I was surprised about why that film was so important to Gene Hackman's large extensive film career. The purpose of this film being made was during the time when Nixon was forced to resign and that everything he verbally said was more than what he was was actually doing. Alot of people of the United States created alot of 'speculations' that everything coming out of Nixon's mouth wasn't telling the people everything that he did that may have contributed to his resignation. Alot of films started to come out about 'the abuse of power' about our senators as well as our elected leaders(presidents) such as "The Parallex View", "Three Days of the Condor",and "The Amsterdam Papers". This film deals with "extreme paranoia" involving a 'bug' expert whose finally met his match!!! I feel that this film is not slow and is extremely relevant even if it's not possible anymore in these current times.
4/4.
