Review of The Conversation (1974) by Tom M — 20 Apr 2009
There are people I admire for being single minded and so absorbed by their work that nothing else seems to matter. Gene Hackman's character appears to be that type of person, totally living the life of this single-minded surveillance expert, yet he isn't very good at it.
Coppola's film is superby constructed, doesn't follow convention and remains fascinating and rivetting to the end. Great stuff.
