Review of The Conversation (1974) by Carole T — 05 Aug 2014
Francis Ford Coppola's best decade of work produced nothing but Best Picture Nominees, and in fact "The Conversation" actually lost to Coppola's other great film of the same year, "The Godfather, Part II".
Gene Hackman is great as the lonely and paranoid Harry Caul, a surveillance man still haunted by murders in New York caused by his work, and his fear that his current job could be leading to the same outcome.
It is a great film, with lots to enjoy, it is slow moving but the tension is there and Hackman's performance is terrific.
