Review of The Contractor (2007) by Jonny B — 30 Dec 2011
Fans of Wesley Snipes in Blade might want to give this action flick a miss; not just because Snipes makes Schwarzenegger's performance as Mr Freeze seem Oscar worthy, but because the movie as a whole is a disaster!
The Contractor follows James Dial (Snipes) is a highly trined retired assassin who is tempted out of his retirement by Jeremy Collins (Ralph Brown). But he soon realises Collins' job was a set-up and is soon on the run, only to find help in the form of teenager Emily (Eliza Bennett).
One of The Contractor's main problems is its innability to thrill which is down to many factors. The movies prologue suggests that the film is going to be an action packed popcorn settting but in fact it's quite the opposite. The plot is so slow and the acting is dreadul from various sources, thus demolishing hopes of a decent flick to an enormous degree. Also, the use of a low budget takes its toll massively in poorly choreographed scenes.
So a message to all Wesleys Snipes' fans out there: Blade may have impressed you hugely but The Contractor most surely will not!
