Review of The Constant Gardener (2005) by Edgar C — 08 Jun 2010
The Constant Gardener is beautifully structured, an artful mix of forward motion and flashbacks. A character-driven drama of actual import that delivers a message and dramatic punch, but with a visual edginess and narrative ingenuity that is in the service of the story, as opposed to the filmmaker.
A classic thriller wrapped in a true romance, moving, heartbreaking, endearing and beautifully shot. A riveting, stylish and first-rate edge of your seat spy thriller. Gripping, unforgettable and electrifying.
Ralph Fiennes gives a truly outstanding performance. Rachel Weisz is truly sensational. It's both an passionate love story and intriguing political drama.
