Review of The Constant Gardener (2005) by Allen W — 28 Dec 2008
A movie that perhaps got a little bit too popular for its own good, this film nevertheless remains a stunning, original, and terrifying dramatic accomplishment with a plot that no doubt would have made Hitchcock proud.
Performances all around are solid, but the two leads stand out for different reasons. It's easy to see what Fiennes is thinking at every moment, but Weisz manages to remain impenetrable even to her husband, which makes his obsession with her fate all the more affecting.
