Review of The Constant Gardener (2005) by Mollie F — 28 Dec 2010
Director Fernando Meirelles is a visual, atmospherical, and romantic genius. Between the glorious cinematography, realistic script, spot-on casting, stirring music... I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this is an incredible affecting movie, with a message as optimistic as it is heartbreaking.
Rachel Weisz looks like the most beautiful woman in the world in this film, and Ralph Fiennes is the perfect foil for her, because really, she is the true star. The whole story and its many messages, both political and personal, are conveyed in their faces.
Great performances all around. I just want to wrap myself in this movie and never leave.
