Review of The Constant Gardener (2005) by Arnie C — 25 Sep 2011
THE CONSTANT GARDENER bubbled its way to the top of my Netflix queue. The actors in this film are terrific, especially Feinnes and Weitz, but they are let down by overly-shaky camerawork, bland direction, and an obvious, preachy script.
I was initially gripped by the story of a British diplomat and his murdered wife, but when the "investigation" began it felt like I was watching a PSA or one of those "very special" episodes of ER.
The film seems to care more about its message than being very good. It's fine but waaay overrated. Mild not recommend.
