This movie is more of the directors dislike of the current dislike of today's versions of rebels being tried in a military court. The movie can be summed up with a line from the film " The Law remains silent in time of war".
The plot is based on real events after the assignation of President Lincoln in 1865 and taken from archived court documents. There is a lot of drama and good acting that keeps you captivated which is a trade mark to most of the director's films.
An OK movie with a point.
