This movie is an honest look at a horrible event in history. The trial of Mary Surratt is actually very representative of what many Southerns saw themselves as ringing to prevent.
If you are not a fan of history then you may find the movie disinteresting. If you enjoy actual history then you should or rather I think you will enjoy this movie. You will walk out of this movie truly touched by the story of Mary Surratt and all that she suffered. (That is mostly forgotten by history textbooks.).
