Review of The Conspirator (2011) by Eve D — 12 Jul 2011
This is a very well-made, superbly-acted film.
Having said that, let me say this: if you are looking for exciting court room drama or straight-history, look elsewhere. This is a film that examines an issue we haven't yet come to terms with: the rights of those who have--or have not--committed a crime in times of war. I must admit that I myself am not quite decided on this issue, but the film makes a compelling argument. Can we suspend rights of the individual simply because we want to see "justice", regardless of proof, done no matter what cost to our own Constitution?
A good film, but certainly not for the summer.
