Review of The Conspirator (2011) by Derek H — 26 Aug 2011
Solidly built around the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and those who conspired to kill him, Robert Redford directs this court room drama with such a stacked cast that it is hard to turn away from. James McAvoy carries most of the film, with a supporting cast of big enough names to keep them from fading into the background.
The story is a bit dry and the plot points contrived, but the costumes and sets keep you in the era, coming off more like a Broadway play with A-list actors.
