Review of The Conspirator (2011) by William K — 05 Oct 2011
A very good historical courtroom drama which uses the backdrop of Mary Surratt's trial to explore issues of justice, constitutionality and prejudice in times of war and public tension. Issues every bit as relevant today as 150 years ago.
Redford does an excellent job of transporting us back to the mid 19th c--with the aid of the historical architecture of Savannah and Fort Pulaski as stand ins for post Civil War DC.
If you enjoy good courtroom drama and historic pieces, you'll find The Conspirator has much to offer.
