Review of The Conspirator (2011) by Michael V — 06 Nov 2011
A new film company has started up with the goal of turning your high school history book into movies. This being their first attempt was a wonderful one at that. They pretty much want to go and make their movies with as much accuracy as possible while still making it engaging for the audience.
No mincing facts or creating story lines and events where there are none. Robert Redford has assembled an impressively strong cast. Robin Wright delivers one of the best performances of her career, in a role that seemed tailor made for her.
Redford succeeds at presenting the unknown story of a loving mother and clearly stating the events that followed Lincoln's assassination. The film transported me back in time. Beautifully shot, supported by amazing art direction and costumes, and driven by James McAvoy strongest performance to date.
Not just for history buffs. I look forward to future projects from this company that shows how America was carved.
