Review of The Conspirator (2011) by James P — 15 Apr 2012
Despite the lukewarm reactions to the movie critically, I was intrigued by a piece of history seldom talked about or covered when talking about the Lincoln assassination. John Wilkes Booth will forever be synonymous, but the other conspirators including a woman, Mary Surratt, are rarely mentioned besides more serious history buffs.
Robert Redford is in the director's chair, along with excellent performances from James McAvoy as the lawyer not wanting to defend the alleged conspirators, Robin Wright as the accused Surratt, and the devious Secretary of State played by Kevin Kline, who will do anything to hurry and get these people to be the ones to blame, whether guilty or not.
Great piece of the puzzle filled here.
