Review of The Conspirator (2011) by Ryan C — 21 May 2012
I really liked this film, the pacing of the story could have been done a better balancing of the timelines, when to do a flashback and stay in the present. The acting is really well done. The cinematography was quite impressive.
The costumes and settings were superb. The real upset to this film was the story structure, it introduces a host of suspects involved in the conspiracy but does not address them. We follow Councel Aiken (McAvoy) thru-out the film yet only get a glimpse of his personal life.
There are bits of the film that just feel were left out or unanswered about parts of the prosecution of Mrs. Surratt or Aikens life. I had read "Killing Lincoln" which is a very good idea for anybody before watching this film.
The film itself is a really good drama history piece.
