The Conjuring is a story about a family moving into a new house and they seem to be under attack by an unfriendly spirit. Whilst under attack they cross paths with a couple who just happen to be Ghost Hunters/Paranormal Investigators, nothing I haven't seen before.

The Conjuring is for the most part not boring and by no means is a bad film, it's just a recycled formula which majority of people somehow credited as original. Still it is enjoyable by its "merits". The ensemble mostly works and their emotions are at times convincing but not award worthy. The cinematography also works in James Wan fashion and with that come proper jump-scares, meaning they're not lazy and fake making The Conjuring one of the scariest movies of the century and that's were it need to be credited. That being said for a film that tries to dwell deeper and beyond paranormal occurrences The Conjuring fails. It turns into a cheesy "priest vs paranormal" Amityville rip off.

For what it's worth The Conjuring is an enjoyable paranormal horror with some traces of good film making.
