Review of The Conjuring 2 (2016) by Zach D — 03 Jul 2016
The Conjuring 2 does what it is supposed to do. It brings more stories of the Warren couple and puts a few scares into the audience. And there are only a few.
Wilson and Farmiga are terrific as usual. The direction is on par, but the story is very familiar. There is too much of the same here, even the "twist" towards the climax is sort of predictable. Conjuring 2 lacks much of the tension and creepiness of the original. One moment with a painting had the potential to be a scary moment and ends up turning very goofy and silly.
If you enjoy the first you will like this one too, as I did, but may leave with a bit of disappointment instead of chill.
