Review of The Conjuring 2 (2016) by Alvin Y — 02 Sep 2016
If The first Conjuring gave us a thrill now I think the 2nd gave us more thrill and chills and heart and even faith or anything else I couldn't think of when watching a stupid horror movie, in this case, this is not a bad movie, it's far beyond expectation of being a cliched same story.
I think it's a better film than its predecessor, also being one of the most horrific demonic real life story ever to put on screen. By saying that, I think some would argue that it's all for show and fame, but towards the end, it made me felt about being a family and a loving spouse that no matter what happens, it's all about sticking together.
The director knows all the possibilities on how this flick could go bad, and it avoids it. The pacing of the film is steady and balance, the surprise scares truly scares, the characters all believable and doesn't look like faking it.
It's definitely a tougher and challenging case, and the film gives you a lot of puzzles and by the end it was all solved and yet doesn't feel wasted or completely misguided. Truly one of the bests of 2016, as horror movies goes beyond limits, then we hope that this should be a lesson to some people on how to make a decent film.
