Review of The Conjuring 2 (2016) by Bubbs R — 14 Jun 2017
This is another example of how horror films have evolved. This film is another excellent 2000s horror film, another excellent 2016 horror film. This film follows the "true" story of Ed and Lorraine Warrens' investigation into the "Haunted" Enfield house. They soon figure out that a malicious spirit has taken over the house. The acting was done super well in this film. Vera Farmiga did excellent portraying Lorraine and Patrick Wilson did excellent portraying Ed. They felt very authentic and they worked good on screen together. Madison Wolfe did excellent as the daughter being possessed by the malicious spirit. Bonnie Aarons also did great playing the nun presence of the evil spirit. She was super creepy on screen. The writing was well done. The film didn't feel like a cheap cliche horror film. The directing was well done also. The shots were interesting and creative. James Wan is an excellent director who has made some of the most iconic horror films from the 2000s (Saw, Incidious, Dead Silence, The Conjuring). The cinematography was creative. Some of the jumpscares got me and the film was very creepy and tense. Overall, another excellent horror flick from the last 17 years, and an excellent film from James Wan, one of the new horror masters.
Rating: 8.7/10.
