Review of The Conjuring 2 (2016) by Daniel C — 25 Jun 2016
It is very attractive for those who like more than horror movies or slasher, thriller, see delivery using makeup, design, photography and practical effects as their base. And while The Conjuring 2 scare you as much as the first part, manages to maintain tension and present an interesting story. In addition, the performances are impeccable, highlighting the two protagonists and Madison Wolfe (Janet) who can smoothly make several roles at once.
Its failure is that the story may be very familiar and therefore predictable for some. In general (and except for one in particular), the revelations will not be taken by surprise and expected. Particularly if you've seen many films of haunted houses, the story is similar and follows the same scheme.
James Wan dominates the genre and continues to innovate with magnificent shots that you skin stand on end. Continuing the story of Warren, The Conjuring 2 functions as part of a franchise, but also as a film itself. Although it is no better than its predecessor and history can be predictable, it is a good delivery stands out for its design, solid narrative and interesting use of terror.
