Falls short of its predecessor due to some questionable effects and story elements (is James Wan confused between this being the Conjuring or Insidious...?) The sense of dread from the first film isn't quite there the second time around.
That isn't to say this isn't a good film; same as the first, despite the aforementioned flaws, the movie benefits from fine acting, good directing, and (mostly) good practical effects. A solid sequel, even if it doesn't quite match the first film.
