Review of The Congress (2013) by Zack F — 10 May 2014
This movie! I'm still trying to process it and pull it all together, but no matter how bizarre this animation/live action acid trip is, it kept me completely engrossed. Here is my proof of how great this film was at drawing in and maintaining my attention.
I HAD TO USE THE RESTROOM THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE, but The Congress refused to let this happen. After every scene I was expecting a little bit of a lull that would give me a minute and a half to dash out, but I just couldn't do it.
A crazy looking animated Danny Huston had to pop in, or colorful chaos had to break out from nowhere, or Robin Wright had to deliver a moment of emotionally desperate brilliance, forcing my bladder to the end of its capabilities.
I may be a bit confused about everything that happened, but I know for damn sure it isn't because I missed anything for petty restroom needs.
