Review of The Congress (2013) by Phillip D — 09 Nov 2014
Rivaling such great films as Cloud Atlas in ambition and scope, The Congress is one of the most complex and thoughtful movies of this century. It builds slowly and often seems to meander through the storyline, but the poignant critique of the movie industry and of humanity as a whole is mind bending, hair raising and chilling to the bone.
With a bitter finesse, The Congress weaves an all to accurate portrait of the human condition. While certainly not the best film ever made and lacking much of the live action needed to make its message stick, The Congress is nevertheless quite an achievement, both stylistically and philosophically.
I highly recommend.
