Review of The Congress (2013) by David L — 15 Feb 2015
Interesting dystopian film combining stunning animation into a story about the tangible and intangible, and delving into the depths of perceptive reality. References to art and pop culture abound in the animated portion of this film.
Although the film is at times beautiful and will stand against other science fiction quite well, the story itself seemed muddied and poorly evolved. The themes of sacrifice and the cost of technology are evident at the very least which makes this movie tolerable.
It is the kind of movie best watched as a late night foray into intellectual thought experiments or after enjoying a bowl with friends.
