Review of The Conformist (1971) by Joel K — 27 Nov 2009
True art of the highest order. Simply brilliant. Plato's Socratic dialogue concerning the Allegory of the Cave features prominently in the intellectual framework of the film. Brilliantly filmed--the look is just jaw dropping at times.
Fascist architecture and decor are essentially another character in the film and at times are quite intimidating and frightening- you know in an architectural sort of a way.
