Even though the story was good, it passed up many opportunities to make it interesting. The direction by Robert Redford was well done and the pace of the movie was quicker than you would expect for a 2 hour long movie.
The acting was alright. This was Shia LaBeouf's best acting in a long time, which is nice to see. The rest of the cast did a good job as well. Definitely worth it to watch.
