Review of The Company of Wolves (1984) by Ruben A — 13 Nov 2011
Great movie but I cant give much of a review till later...
Update.
Beautiful atmospheric film. every second could be stopped and be artistic. its amazing score only makes it much more beautiful. the stories told are amazing, my favorite story is the wolfgirl. its got a beautiful gothic feel.
The symbolism of this film is everywhere. the rose changing to red, straying from the path, the wolves destroying Rosaleens childhood toys and whatnots...its evident and cant be mistaken.
Not like a typical werewolf film as in this werewolves arent large half man half beast that mutilate people. they are both man and wolf, but a man who can turn into a wolf.
The film isnt much a horror film, though there are a few frightening scenes, ie: the two transformation scenes, grandmothers death, sisters death...and the ending. also the score adds an unnerving feel in many scenes.
Beautiful from beginnig to end, you cant state you love movies and havent seen this art.
