Review of The Company Men (2010) by Martin D — 08 Aug 2011
There was nothing really wrong with the company men. the all star cast gave all around good performances and the directing and cinematogrsphy were solid, if not a little dull. The film follows three different men as they deal with the economic crisis and being treated like nothing but numbers instead of people by the company they dedicated their lives to.
All the stories are pretty interesting (in my opinion Chris Coopers was the most entertaining and thought provoking), but I can't help but feel as if something was missing. Halfway through the movie I started to feel as if I wasn't as emotionally connected to the characters as I should've been, seeing them losing their lifelong jobs and all.
I lost interest in the fundamentals of the film, and when that happens it is hard to regain it. By the end of thhe movie, the film loses almost all of its believability and creditation as I felt it had a somewhat "hollywood" cliche ending.
I give The Company Men 6.5/10. It was a halfway entertaining movie, but was too flawed to have any resonating impact with me.
