Review of The Commuter (2018) by Matthew D — 15 Jan 2018
A barebones, generic Hitchcock wannabe thriller that fails more than it succeeds. It's serviceable entertainment, sure; but that doesn't quite justify the ever growing ticket prices. The cast does a fine job with what they are given, but the script fails to keep the attention of the audience with lame clichés, a "twist" seen a mile away, as well as some cardboard characters. A tighter script with less clichés in the hands of a more capable director, and this thriller could've been something truly special, however, as it stands, it's just bland and forgettable.
2/5 stars.
