Review of The Commuter (2018) by Jon C — 14 Jan 2018
Who knows for sure if Liam Neeson is done with action movies?
The thing is he's still got the chops for a suspenseful thriller.
Even if this script is somewhat pedestrian he carries the film enough.
Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson and Sam Neil are only here in spades but add to this conspiracy more than one would think.
Neeson is an insurance broker who gets fired and faces financial issues, then after he gets on the commuter train he's approached by a woman named Joanna who gives him a simple task of taking a package filled with money and pointing out a witness to a murder.
Suddenly the favor gets more deadly as passengers are axed off and his family is in jeopardy.
Someone on the train doesn't belong and his family's lives are on the line.
The movie has some very good action especially a crash scene that is truly impressive.
What happens when we get on the train every day, passing by strangers we don't really know, what are they really doing?
If we're asked to do something unaware of the consequences would we do it? what kind of person are we? how far would you go to save yourself or someone else?
Better-than-average thriller with Neeson still holding it together.
