Review of The Comedy (2012) by Seth L — 31 Mar 2013
A disturbing portrayal of the pathetic ennui of the entitled trust-funders and their bougie friends in williamsburg. disturbing because i've lived here for fifteen years, and these characters are anything but fictional.
I suppose the filmmaker could claim to be making some sort of statement, but the reality is this - you can cast tim & eric + james murphy from lcd soundsystem as your leads, use william basinski's disintegration loops in your soundtrack, and ironically call your film 'the comedy' - but that does not make you an artist.
it just shows you can appropriate and acquire and rig the system, just like the rest of the narcissistic masses that roam so freely in this urban playground. feh, I spit on this shit. lazy and uninspired.
