Review of The Comebacks (2007) by Tyler C — 13 Apr 2008
I knew this was going to be a bad movie. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Now, I've said that about quite a few movies and they've turned out to be pretty good... for example, I predicted Shaun of the Dead would be terrible, and now it's probably in my top 10. Unfortunately, I hit the nail right on the head with this so-called comedy, The Comebacks.
The Comebacks is basically a pointless, plotless spoof of all those inspirational sports movies out there, such as Friday Night Lights, Radio, and Remember the Titans. This movie had potential to be hilarious, yet it failed on every aspect.
Being a fan of his work, I was extremely dissapointed with David Koechner's performance. Every single one of his jokes were too forced to be funny, and the countless scenes of him jumping in the air, flailing his arms and bulging his eyes like a complete idiot trying to get a laugh from the audience... it was just not funny. Plain and simple. This movie didn't even make me chuckle. Not one single time. In fact, the only thing keeping me from giving this movie a 1 is the fact that it was so bad, it gave me an excuse to make out with my girlfriend for an hour and a half.
PROS:
* Uhhhhhhh.......
CONS.
* Do you want me to write a book? EVERYTHING.
FINAL WORD: Don't. Just... don't. Don't go see it, don't buy it when it comes out on DVD, don't even download it. You'll just waste an hour and half of your life when you could do something that matters, like watching Shaun of the Dead.
2 out of 10 stars.
