Review of The Comancheros (1961) by Rocknblues 8 — 03 Nov 2009
The Comancheros is a decently made buddy western that fails to make a real impact. Sure the casting is good, and the performances are what you would expect, but there isn't a scene here that really amazed me.
The cheesy buddy dialogue between Wayne and Whitman try to keep this afloat, but there just isn't enough entertainment value or substance here to call this a standout western. It should be known that director Michael Curtiz was not a western movie guy, so that answers some of the films questions.
One bright spot is the appearance of the always intense Lee Marvin.
