Review of The Color Purple (1985) by 3568 C — 13 Nov 2012
With a cast, director and cinematographer this good, you don't need special effects. This is real movie-making at its best. You can hate the portrayal of women or the behavior of male characters in the movie, but this movie makes you FEEL.
That's what I want in a movie. Hat's off to Oprah and Spielberg for making this happen and doing it so well. Nominated for 11 Oscars, it should have won twice that number.
