I remember watching this when I was younger and it felt so long, I think because they kept replaying it on television, it was a bit overbearing, but it's a well done film, takes you to the darker realities.
It's also an experience, a bad experience of your own sympathizing with the characters. It also felt more like an indulgence in bad memories, rather than the telling of a tale. (And I must point out how much Oprah could pass for Whoppi 's grandmother in this film and they are practically the same age.
).
