Review of The Color Purple (1985) by Ching L — 18 Feb 2012
Seeing young Whoopy and Oprah is interesting and nice. All cast is enjoyable. But the plot is confusing and irrational on several parts, but perfectly bind and smooth on others. I can't believe it's Spielberg's movie.
It looks like joint of scenes like they are brought together by flood. Some main facts in this story are berely mentioned, described very coarse, but some backgroung stuff had detailed representation.
It seems they wanted to stuff in as much comic occasions as possible: Major's wife driving, harpo's continuous falling through the roof, exaggerated house swinishness, and others. At the end I had feeling I watched soapy comedy like Sister Act.
What a pity.
