Review of The Collection (2012) by Robert P — 11 May 2013
This film follows on from The Collector and makes much more sense than the first film. In the original film, nothing seemed to make sense. Traps were appearing within seconds of people leaving rooms and the whole trapped house seemed pointless, but in this one, because it's all set in his "lair" the traps all have a point (he'd obviously boobytrap his own place incase he gets descovered or his victims try and escape. The opening club scene also makes sense because he'd have had time to set everything up, but it does leave you wondering why he wouldn't get discovered after sending all those invites out!
Anyway, it's got a much quicker pace than the first one, isn't as daft and the effects are top notch. It does get a little slly and the film knows you're not really going to care for the people involved, so doesn't really try and make you like them. It's brisk 79 minute running time means that it doesn't out stay it's welcome and it leaves the end open for another sequel (the original ending can be found in the DVD extras which pretty much rules out another film, so it's obvious why it wasn't used).
Much better than the first film, so I'd recomend this to anyone who loves a bit of gore.
