Review of The Collection (2012) by Dov D — 28 Aug 2013
Marcus Dunstan continues to progress as a director in his sequel to the 2009 film The Collector. Despite having less backstory, this film is far better than it's predecessor. I actually first saw this movie before watching The Collector and loved it.
After seeing the first installment, I understood a bit more of this film, but lost a great deal of respect for this film as well, solely because of how I viewed the two lead characters. Taken on it's own merits, The Collection is an incredible horror film that is not scared to kill literally everyone.
The plot is thin to be generous and the acting only alright, but this is a solid, entertaining, gruesome film that genre fans will love. The killer is unbelievably violent and insanely relentless. Those traits are far to rare in horror films today.
Bottom line, anyone who likes horror films will be more than happy after watching this.
