Review of The Cold Light of Day (2012) by Joanna G — 07 Sep 2012
I challenge you to find a lower grade spy thriller than this one here. So Henry Cavill plays the son of a secret government operative (Bruce Willis), and when his entire family gets kidnapped one afternoon, it is up to him to figure out what's going on and how to save them.
I went into this movie completely cold, no pun intended. As soon as the thin exposition is finished, the movie then shows the skin of what it desperately wants to be, and that is a Jason Bourne movie.
Unfortunately, this is made by clueless people who don't know what they are doing. You have high profile actors in Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver, but they have zero to work with; the scene when those two interact is just painful, and it is obvious just how much they are trying to polish a turd.
The script is vague as can be, referring to things like "the briefcase" instead of something of interest, and I am guessing that was intentional because they couldn't come up with anything.
This is poorly directed, and the editing in this is atrocious; the action scenes in this are choppy and embarrassing, and this movie climaxes with the worst put together car chase I have ever seen in my life.
You should avoid this as best you can, as it is incompetent for its entirety.
