Review of The Cold Light of Day (2012) by Gary S — 08 Sep 2012
Bad. Just.. bad. Bruce and Sigourney were a very promising duo... but well, even they can't help this non-plot. I expected it would be Taken-ish, but I assumed that when I though Bruce was going to be the main character.
I'm going to go ahead and SPOIL this for you because you should not see it. You should not waste your life.
So many things were not convincing in this. Some young bankrupt kid being able to sneak up on 2 CIA assassins, not to mention CIA assassins being so sloppy with their kills. Then of course there's a long-lost sister who happens to be friends with gangsters who happen to want to help an American stranger. A chase scene begins with the kid going after Sigourney and her suitcase... he doesn't get the suitcase but then somehow he starts running and Sigourney is chasing him... Why? Oh God and Sigourney... she is built up to be the most BADASS, heartless, cougar of a CIA agent, and yet... she dies with the the most anti-climactic of "Oh.."s that sounds like she was just unexpectedly poked with a tampon.
Now that I mention it, how do these people get movies produced, and why the ACTUAL hell did Bruce and Sigourney sign on?! Money can't be that tight...
Having said that.. the kid (Henry Cavill) was muy caliente and I wouldn't mind running around Madrid with him.
