Review of The Cold Light of Day (2012) by Jason C — 15 Sep 2012
ARGH! Don't you hate it when you go into a movie thinking it's going to be horrible and it's just as bad as you expect? It's rarely the case, but this movie overachieved in being bad. This movie only cost $20 million to make and might not even recoup that worldwide.
Will Shaw (Henry Cavill) goes to Spain to spend time with his dysfunctional family on his dad's (Bruce Willis) boat. His family is kidnapped and he ends up running from the bad guys while searching for a briefcase that you'll never know the contents of in order to get his family back alive. And I couldn't pull out my phone to cruise the internet because two other people came to see the movie and I'm courteous.
Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver didn't even want to invest the effort to help make The Cold Light of Day any better. They were just kind of there. That's pretty bad. Henry Cavill was stunningly horrible. He's going to be in The Man of Steel, the upcoming Superman movie, and I hope he's a lot better than this.
There was no substance, no twist that surprised me, bad acting, bad directing, a HORRIBLE script, and probably an editor who spliced film with his tears while he put this together. I don't know what kind of camera they used, but it had to have been old. Any time the camera was moved or an actor moved too quickly, everything went blurry.
There will never be a time you need to watch The Cold Light of Day. It's really bad and the only thing you can possibly get from watching this is a migraine.
