Review of The Cold Light of Day (2012) by Sam C — 10 Feb 2013
The Cold Light of Day is a horrible movie that has no redeeming factors, I mean everything about this movie sucks. The Cold Light of Day is about Will who goes on a vacation with his family, but, when his family is taken it becomes his job to find them before its too late.
Before seeing The Cold Light of Day I had no expectations and the only reason why I was somewhat interested in this movie is that it had Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. Well, after seeing this movie I can say that Bruce Willis's and Sigourney Weaver's performances is the only thing that's actually somewhat enjoyable.
Both actors are completely wasted in this film but they're the only thing that I enjoyed in this movie. Well, now that I've talked about the only thing I liked about this movie I guess I should talk about everything that was bad in this movie.
I guess I'll start with the acting which is pretty horrible. In June 2013, Henry Cavill be Superman in Man of Steel and I was actually looking forward to it but after seeing Cavill's performance it brought my excitement down a notch.
I found Cavill to be very annoying and I just couldn't believe him being any sort of hero. I really hope that the reason for his performance being bad is because of the directing because I really want to see him give a good performance in Man of Steel.
Another terrible performance in this movie is from Veronica Echegui who just whined and cried the whole time, it was just so annoying. The rest of the cast (other than Willis and Weaver) were also terrible and will probably remain as nobodies.
The directing to this movie was just horrible, director Mabrouk El Merchri tries to have his own unique style at times but it looked stupid. Every time he tried to come up with some creative shot it ended up looking bad and poorly done.
To be the worst thing about this movie is the writing, the story was uninteresting and the dialogue was horrible. This movie never had me interested and wastes two of cinema's biggest stars, I highly recommend skipping this one.
