Review of The Cobbler (2014) by Cade H — 20 Jul 2015
This is not your typical Adam Sandler movie with crazy laughs and a cameo by David Spade and Rob Schneider. This rather serious take on a fantasy subject turned out to be worthwhile but not great. Sandlers character turns into any person who's shoes he puts on.
This creates an interesting little story but it doesn't have much depth or longevity to it. There are some funny moments and some interesting parts but overall it is a unique concept not put the best use.
Toward the end it gets pretty sentimental and surprising but it seems unfulfilling. I enjoy Adam in these types of roles, he is charming to watch but he needs a better story and better characters around him to make a movie like The Cobbler stand out in the crowd.
