Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Danny D — 05 Feb 2018
This might be the most dishonest film I've ever seen. It's clear that JJ had a flop on his hands so he tacked on the fan favorite cloverfield monster at the very very end and told people THIS was the cloverfield sequel fans have been waiting for since 2008, and as you're watching it becomes insanely obvious that JJ cut out 1/3 of an original sci fi horror movie and filled it with vague cloverfield references and subplot at the last second and then slapped CLOVERFIELD on the poster.
The movie doesn't even work as a standalone like 10 Cloverfield Lane, which was an excellent movie. It's a very underwhelming and I mean VERY underwhelming Event Horizon/Sunshine but nothing makes sense and it's just hand waved with "uh the multiverse is just weird like that you know?".
I didn't pay for this movie and I used my friend's netflix account, but this movie was such a waste of my time that I still feel like I deserve something back.
