Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Aw C — 05 Feb 2018
Wasn't expected this, so the Netflix drop was a nice surprise. It wasn't great. Like so many sci-fi films, it set up an interesting premise (multiverse overlap) but couldn't follow through on the ideas.
It's half-baked. I felt the same way about "Interstellar." Fun to watch, but leaves much to be desired when trying to be smart about scientific theory. Better than your average "straight to DVD" film, but pretty understanding that they decided to refrain from pushing a theatrical release.
I won't call it a disappointment, because I wasn't expecting much. It wasn't a waste of time, but should've been better. Why are some writers/directors so in love with twists?
