Review of The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) by Phillip C — 05 Feb 2018
Okay, The Cloverfield Paradox is great, and completely bananas.
It DOES actually begin to weave together the entire Cloverfield universe....sort of?
It's not super clear how this connects to the original Cloverfield, but it definitely does.
It has a Rogue One-style ending that LOOKS like it leads right into the original movie, but on slightly closer inspection clearly doesn't.
Lots of questions about how EXACTLY all three movies fit together, but we're starting to make some progress.
The dialogue isn't great, and I expect Neil deGrasse Tyson to poke this movie full of science holes, because it is DEFINITELY full of giant gaping science holes. But I'm fine with that.
In any case, the gloves are off. Seems like this could almost be a Rick & Morty-level "anything goes" sci-fi universe.
The idea that we might already be getting Cloverfield 4 later this year is NUTS.
Can't wait.
